Roman Opimakh and Kristina Brailovska are the main contenders to head the State Service of Geology of Ukraine

According to the results of the first stage of testing for the position of the Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, Roman Opimakh and Kristina Brailovska were identified as the main contenders having scored 2 points each. Other contestants scored only one point.

One may recall, that with its Order No. 863-p dated September 25, 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced a contest for the position of the Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine. There were 6 candidates who were admitted to the competition.

Mr. Roman Opimakh is the Executive Director of the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine. Mr. Roman Opimakh was an adviser on petroleum sector to the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, as well as the head of the relevant area at the Office for Interaction of the President of Ukraine with the Cabinet of Ministers. In those capacity he coordinated cooperation of the Ministry of Energy with the World Bank, Energy Community, EBRD in developing the Gas Sector Reform Plan of Ukraine. Mr. Roman Opimakh is MS of International Relations in International Strategies and Security from Taras Shevchenko National University (2006), graduated from the Michigan State University under the H.Humphrey Fellowship Program in Public Policy and Management and completed his internship at the Louisiana State University Energy Research Center (2016).

Ms. Kristina Brailovska is the Head of the Legal Department of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine. There is little public information about Ms. Brailovska. The media associate her with Mr. Mykola Zlochevsky, because Ms. Brailovska started her career as the Head of the Legal Department of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine when Mr. Zlochevsky was a Minister. During her time as Head of the Legal Department of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, many licenses for the development of minerals were granted to companies of ambiguous businessmen Fuchs, Kolomoisky, Zlochevsky, and so on.

Mr. Yevgeny Kravchuk works in the Ministry of Infrastructure’s Directorate for Strategic Planning and Coordination of the State Transport Policy.

The next round of the selection contest for the position of the Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine is scheduled for the week of October 28.
