RES capacity already reaches 20%-25% in national electricity consumption at certain hours - Ukrenergo
In Ukraine, the capacity of renewable energy generation facilities has already reached 20-25% of total energy consumption in the power system, namely on March 11, 2021 (12:00).
Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of NEC Ukrenergo, announced this on April 21. 2021.
“The maximum capacity of all RES in the power system is fixed at almost 4.4 GW (March 11, 2021). That is, this is a fairly significant share of coverage of the load schedule, if we understand that at this time the total consumption was 17 GW - 18 GW, then we have already reached the coverage of consumption [electricity from RES –Ed.] at a certain hour at 20%-25%," Kudrytskyi reported.
At the same time, the maximum capacity of SPPs was recorded by the Ukrenergo on August 30, 2020, at 3417 MW between 12:00-13:00 consumption schedule (according to telemetry).
The maximum capacity of the WPPs on April 11, 2021, was recorded at 1087 MW.
"We see that our maximum capacity of the wind farm was recorded on April 11, 2021 [at 05:00 AM - Ed.]. It was a little less than 1100 MW according to telemetry. On this day, it was necessary to limit the capacity of WPPs and SPP, because on this day there were no other means to balance the power system, " Kudrytskyi added.
