Renewable power generation reached 1.66 billion kWh with growth of 62.8% over the last 5 months
In January-May 2019, renewable generation (wind, solar, small hydroelectric power stations, biomass and biogas) increased electricity production by 62.75% to 1.659 billion kWh when compared with the same period of 2018. This is evidenced by the data released by the "Guaranteed Offtaker", a branch of SE "Energorynok".
According to the data, in January they produced 214.5 million kWh, in February - 251.12 million kWh, in March - 367.99 million kWh, in April - 357.36 million kWh, in May - 468.547 million kWh. In addition, it was reported that during this period 37.7%, or 625.28 million kWh was produced by wind farms, 46.4% (769.95 million kWh) be solar plants, 7.9% (130.5 million kWh) by small hydroelectric power stations, 4.6% by biogas and 3.4% biomass units.
As reported earlier by ExPro, power plants in Ukraine in 2018 compared with 2017 increased electricity production by 2.5% - up to 159.35 billion kWh. In particular, during the reporting period, renewable sources (wind, solar, biomass) amounted to 2.6 billion kWh (+ 38.8%).
