Parliament of Ukraine Adopted the Law on Green Bonds

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the Law on capital markets and organized markets of commodities, which at the same time regulates green bonds in Ukraine. The law was voted by 263 members of parliament on June, 19.

According to the law, green bonds are issued exclusively to finance ecological projects in such spheres as renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste recycling, conservation of plants and animals biodiversity etc.

Ecological project can be performed by local community, state, and private entity. The Cabinet of Ministers, banks, international finance organizations and other finance companies are able to issuer the securities.

Green bonds can be issued for financing a few ecological projects simultaneously, the raised funds must be used only for performing a project.

An organization carrying out a project does not have a right to stop a project beforehand or do things leading to loss of its rights in a project.

Annual information about a green bonds issuer must include the data about current state of a project, amount of money raised due to the issue and spent on a project performing.
