NNEGC Energoatomand Westinghouse sign contract on fuel documentation for RNPP

Reportedly by the NNEGC Energoatom, the company and a nuclear fuel producer Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB have signed a contract on the development and provision of license documentation for fuel assemblies for Unit №2 (WWER-440) of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNNP).

According to the NNEGC Energoatom, the next step prior to loading the Westinghouse’s nuclear fuel for WWER-440 reactors at other Ukrainian NPPs, it should undergo licensing in accordance with the requirements of the legislation and regulations of Ukraine.

The press center added that the first test batch of fuel assemblies (not more than 12 pieces) manufactured by Westinghouse will be loaded into the core of Unit №2 of Rivne NPP in 2024, and the total supply of the contract provides for at least 1056 fuel assemblies.
