NEURC awaits Energy Community’s conclusion on final certification of Ukrenergo
The National Energy and Utilities Regulation Commission (NEURC) has sent materials on preliminary certification of the Ukrainian transmission system operator NEC Ukrenergo, and is awaiting the conclusion of the Energy Community for final certification of the Ukrainian ENTSO, as announced by Olha Babii, a NEURC’s Commissioner.
“Once we have done the preliminary certification, we send all these materials to the Energy Community Secretariat for verification and receipt of an opinion from them. Taking into account the conclusion certificate of the Energy Community, we eliminate the shortcomings, if any. Although, we are sure there will be no shortcomings. Next, we finalize the documents, resolve issues related to the powers of the controller and the controller's contracts, i.e. insignificant organizational matters, and decide on the final certification. We hope that the Secretariat will provide us with an answer in the near future and we will make a decision on the final certification," Babii said.
As previously reported by ExPro, on June 2, 2021, the NEURC decided to certify the transmission system operator NEC Ukrenergo according to the ISO (Independent System Operator) model, which was a necessary condition for further integration into the ENTSO-E.
