Ministry of Energy predicts RES in Ukrainian electricity generation in 2021 to surpass 13 %

The Ministry of Energy forecasts that the share of electricity produced from renewable sources (RES) in 2021 will flip over 13% in the national electricity production.

This was stated on April 20, 2021, by the Deputy Minister of Energy Yuriy Boyko during the conference "Transition from the "Green" tariff to Market Conditions".

"If we take the current Energy Strategy until 2035, it provides for a non-linear growth of "green" electricity production over the years: in 2035 the share of electricity produced from RES should be at least 25%, while in 2030 - only 13%. We are guaranteed to exceed this figure by the end of this year," he said.

According to Boyko, since the share of RES will be exceeded this year, it is worth revising the Energy Strategy of Ukraine. He added that at the beginning of 2021, the installed capacity of RES in Ukraine is 8.4 GW, of which 1.2 GW are wind farms.
