Kyivteploenergo received a € 140 million EBRD loan to modernize of two thermal power plants
The Kyivteploenergo has signed a loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for a € 140 million a loan to modernize thermal power complex (CHP-5, CHP-6, boiler houses and other equipment) in Kyiv.
To implement this agreement, the Kyiv City State Administration provided guarantees and signed an appropriate guarantee agreement with the EBRD. Other agreements were signed on September 2, 2021, at the site of the Kyiv CHP-5.
The project envisages the installation of new cogeneration units at the CHP-6, which will meet European standards in terms of emissions into the atmosphere. Inefficient boiler houses will be reconstructed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is planned to install a condensing economizer at CHP-5, which will use the residual energy of flue gases (waste heat) to provide heating for houses and buildings in Kyiv.
The project also envisages the installation of a new monitoring and dispatching system (SCADA). This is the only control and data collection system that will analyze and control the operation of the entire energy complex in real time and monitor its production indicators.
