In January-May Transcarpathians stole gas for UAH 5 million

The JS “Zakarpatgaz”experts have detected 270 unauthorized natural gas syphonings over January-May in Transcarpathia.

This is reported in the “Zakarpatgaz”company’s release.

Most of syphonings, namely 239 cases, were done by households, and caused the loss of UAH 5 million.

The Technical Director of JS “Zakarpatgas”, Oleksandr Golub, explains: «Most common detected violations include: unauthorized hooking to gas lines, interventions into gas meters, unauthorized resumption of gas consumption or connection of additional gas devices”.

After detecting the fact of unlawful consumer’s actions, the company’s inspectors file a report of violation, and submit it for further examination by a relevant committee.

If the committee finds a damage incurred by JS “Zakarpatgaz”, and a consumer refuses to pay for it, the case is filed in court.

The director added: «Totally, in 2018 and at the beginning of 2019, 73 cases were brought to courts to recover the UAH 4 million losses”. T

he JS “Zakarpatgaz” emphasize that siphonings of gas both is a huge risk as it physically endanger consumers and their families.
