Fast start electricity generation should be up to 2 GW - Ukrenergo
The installed capacity of fast start electricity generation must be increased to at least 2 GW, in order to avoid dispatching restrictions on generation from renewable sources and economic feasibility of the power system.
This was announced on June 16, 2021, by Vitaliy Zaichenko, Chief Dispatcher of the NEC Ukrenergo.
"In order not to limit RES and achieve maximum economic feasibility, it is necessary to continue to increase the capacity of fast start electricity generation should be at least 2 GW, and then, perhaps, even more," said Zaichenko.
In particular, in the NEC Ukrenergo’s Report on the assessment of the of generating capacity, the transmission system operator forecasts a need of fast start electricity generation at least 1 GW by 2025.
