Energoatom plans to reduce number of energy units for winter repairs to 2-3 units in 2022-2025
In 2022-2025, the NNEGC Energoatom plans to shift repairs of NPP energy units to summer, leaving only 2-3 NPP energy power units for maintenance and repairs during winter times, thus avoiding impacts dispatch restrictions on summer electricity, increasing annual electricity production by 27%, from 75 billion kWh to 95 billion kWh.
That was announced on February 17, 2021 by the NNEGC Energoatom’s Acting President Petro Kotin.
"This year, our electricity production will be at the level of 75 billion kWh (according to the balance), although we can produce about 78 billion kWh," added Kotin. ExPro Reference: In winter of 2020-2021, there were 4-5 NPP power units under repair.
As of February 17, 2021, only 4 power units were under repair, while other 11 NPP energy units with a total capacity of 10,615 GW were in operation.
During January 23 - February 12, 2021, the total capacity of nuclear generation was at 9.5 GW - 9.6 GW.
Earlier, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Management Board of the NEC Ukrenergo, said that 12 nuclear power units should be in operation in the winter period of high electricity consumption.
