Energoatom has started preparations for the extension of the service life of the two power units The NNEGC
Energoatom sent to the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU) the Program for Implementation of Measures to Substantiate the Possibility of Further Operation (in the Over-Project Term) of Unit №1 of the South Ukrainian NPP and №1 of Zaporizhzhya NPP, which expire in December 2023 and December 2025, respectively.
This was announced on September 17, 2021, in response to a query by ExPro to the by the SNRIU press center.
According to the SNRIU, the design and reassigned (for 10 years) service life of Unit №1 of the South Ukraine NPP expires on December 2, 2023, and Unit №1 of the Zaporizhzhia on December 23, 2025.
In addition, on December 31, 2025 the design and extended for 10 years life of Unit №2 of the South Ukraine NPP expires, on October 21, 2026 - Unit №6 of Zaporizhzhia NPP, on December 19, 2026 - Unit №2 of Zaporizhzhia NPP. Other units have a later completion date.
"As for other power units, the deadlines set by the legislation of Ukraine for submitting to the SNRIU the decision of the operating organization on preparation of the NPP unit for long-term operation and the corresponding supporting documents have not yet come," the press center of the SNRIU added.
