Electricity Supply of State Coal Mines Was Limited to the Minimal Level – SE Regional Electrical Merezhi
State-owned distribution operator Regional Electrical Merezhi supplying electricity for state coal mines limited supply to the minimal possible level because of mines’ debts. The representative of the operator informed about it during meeting of the National Energy and Utility Regulation Commission and adopting company’s investment program for 2019.
“Concerning the state-owned coal mines, we have to provide electricity for ventilation and water removal services, but coal drawing and other activities is completely limited… We supply electricity so that they can unload underground premises on their requests but they can’t operate in a normal mode”, said he.
According to DSO’s representative, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine along with the Cabinet of Ministers didn’t offer the comprehensive solution of the coal miners’ debts problem for resuming electricity supply.
“As of today the problem hasn’t solved. Our company is in a situation when actually we indulge the illegal electricity withdrawal”, noted he.
The representative added the recent government decision allowing supplier of “last resort” SE Ukrinterenergo to prolong electricity supply for free prices to its clients hasn’t implemented into practice.
“Ukrinterenergo refuses to sign the contracts under free prices conditions with all clients”, said he.
