Electricity Consumption Fell by 6.1% to 11.025 GWh in January

In January 2020 the electricity consumption fell by 6%, to 11.025 GWh compared to January 2019, the data published by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine showed.

The biggest decrease occurred in machine building (-20%), metallurgy (-10.6%), and fuel industry (-8.4%). In addition utilities providers and residents significantly slashed the consumption by 9.1% and by 4.5%, respectively. However, only chemical and petrochemical industries did show the growth with the latter at 38%.

As ExPro agency reported earlier, the electricity consumption in 2019 went down by 1.9% to 150.234 GWh compared to 2018. The majority of the commercial consumers reduced their consumption of electricity e.g. industry (-1.7%), agriculture (-4.1%), transport sphere (-5.1%), utilities providers (-2.8%), and the population (-2%).
