DTEK Oil&Gas drilled well # 75 at the Semirenkivske deposit using the latest technologies
DTEK Oil&Gas completed the drilling of well # 75 of the Semirenkivske field, applying a number of modern technologies and innovative solutions, some of which were used for the first time in the Ukrainian gas industry. It is reported by press service of the company.
According to this report, a well with a depth of 5470 m at a field with complex geological conditions was drilled in 3.5 months. The directional well was drilling with the usage Rotary-controlled Schlumberger PowerDrive X6. Due to the use of which the project S-profile of the well in Jurassic and Triassic deposits in the range of 1200-2825 m was realized, thus achieving a high precision of the well trajectory with a deviation from the geological target of less than 1 meter. The use of a rotary-controlled system also reduced the drilling time in the range of 300-2825 m, to a record 11 days.
The company also reported that the use of Weatherford's OverDrive System CRT equipment, which allows rotation of casing string with the simultaneous circulation of the drill mud, helped to reduce the risk of geological complications and the time of the lowering of casing string with and directional well. In addition, Impulse technology was first introduced, a 203 mm screw downhole motor with National Oil Varco axial vibration generation module, which achieved a record of pure mechanical speed.
For the drilling of hard abrasive rocks of productive horizons using a hydrocarbon-based drilling mud, the first is a Smith Bits 152.4 mm Onyx 360 chisel with 360 ° rotating PDC cutters, which allows it to be operated in high temperatures and insufficient cooling.
“In 2019, DTEK Oil&Gas invested more than UAH 3 billion in drilling - we began construction of five wells, three of which have already been completed ahead of schedule. This result was achieved through a systematic approach to implementing innovative solutions and state-of-the-art technologies implemented by the company. We effectively co-operate with the world's leading service companies, research institutes and members of the DTEK Oil&Gas Expert Council. This allows us to successfully solve complex problems, increase efficiency and reduce costs in the field of hydrocarbon exploration, drilling and production, ”said Igor Shchurov, CEO of DTEK.
