Court ruled on enforced debt recovery from Gazprom in February – Vitrenko
The court in Amsterdam has determined the expected date of the decision on the claim of Naftogaz of Ukraine on the enforcement of debt recovery from Gazprom PJSC – February 25, 2020. The CEO at Naftogaz Yuriy Vitrenko reports this.
“Our assessment is that the hearings have been successful for us, and therefore we look forward to a positive court decision that will allow us proceeding with the sale of Gazprom assets that we have successfully arrested before,” Vitrenko wrote on his Facebook page.
He reminded that Naftogaz claims about $ 3 billion from Gazprom in Stockholm arbitration. On two contractual matters between the two companies, the arbitration ruled that the Russian company should compensate for the underloading of the Ukrainian gas transportation system. The Russian side refused to comply with the arbitrators’ decisions and started to simultaneously appealing against the decisions and termination of the contracts with Naftogaz.
Instead, Naftogaz has initiated a process of enforcing the debt recovery from Gazprom in the international jurisdictions. At present, the company has succeeded in arresting and disclosing a number of Gazprom’s assets.
