A license for the Boryslavske field was withdrawn based on an inspection by the state environmental Inspectora
The State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine (SSGSU) has provided an official explanation regarding the court decision to withdraw the license for the development of the Boryslavske field from Ukrnafta. In which it assured that the basis for making court proceedings was the submission of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine (Derzhekoinspektsiya).
The Service notes that during scheduled and unscheduled inspections, the environmental Inspectorate recorded a significant deterioration in the state of environmental safety in the field. The continuation of work at the facility could have dangerous consequences for the ecology of Drohobych and Skolivskiy districts of the Lviv region, where the field is located. Therefore, the SSGSU notes that Ukrnafta did not comply with the requirements of the legislation in the field of Environmental Protection, as a result of which its license was withdrawn.
As reported on October 19, having annulled the license, the court made a decision that poses a threat to the technogenic safety of the city. Stopping the production of hydrocarbons at the Boryslavske field will lead to a shutdown of vacuum compressor stations and the degassing program in the city. Petroleum industry workers and city authorities are preparing appropriate appeals to the court.
